A small operation with a specific mission
What we are
DurableWorks is a volunteer project in Greater Cleveland that rescues working electronics from the waste stream. We operate out of a workshop in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and serve Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and surrounding counties.
Why we exist
Most consumer electronics are discarded long before they stop working. A seven-year-old laptop that boots reliably and runs a modern browser has no business in a landfill or a shredder. The "you need a new one" message is loud; the case for keeping what works is quieter. We're here to make that case, one machine at a time.
Who runs it
DurableWorks is run by a small volunteer team. It started as a father-son project when Matt and his son began pulling tested-good electronics from recycling bins, restoring them in a home workshop, and finding them new owners. The work kept coming. The project grew into this.
Legal status
DurableWorks currently operates as a volunteer project. We're pursuing 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Donations of equipment are welcome and put directly to use, but are not currently tax-deductible. We'll update this page when that changes.
